the first exhibition of the bauhaus was accompanied by the publication of the catalogue "state bauhaus in Weimar 1919–1923" in 1923. with the help of this interdisciplinary catalogue, the idea and potential of the bauhaus found its way into the paper for the first time. in addition to numerous project lectures, the theoretical approaches of paul klee, wassily kandinsky and gertrud grunow convey the teaching methods of the various workshops. gropius epilogue traces the structure of the national bauhaus and presents the unique reformed approach which teaches and promotes the unity of technology and art. the illustrations from the different workshops also feature projects from students whose connection to bauhaus is still unknown.
the reprint includes a commentary by astrid bähr
