the hasami porcelain™ from japan combines modern forms, traditional craftsmanship and materials, whose production and natural origin can be both seen and felt. the simple elements in uniform diameters and heights allow for a wide range of uses.

hasami porcelain™  was designed in 2012 by takuhiro shinomoto, who originates from japan and currently lives in california.

cups, mugs, jugs, plates and bowls: hasami porcelain is a modular tableware made of cylindrical elements. the plates can equally be the lids for the bowls or the saucers. all elements have diameters of 8,5, 14,5, 22 or 25,5 cm. the height is 2,1 cm (plates), 5,5 and 7,2 cm (bowls and cups), 8,9 and 10,6 cm (mugs and jugs) – hence many parts of the hasami tableware can be combined and stacked.

hasami porcelain gets its life and warmth through the materials used – sand coloured ceramic which is always a little different and changes between light brown, beige and grey. the unglazed version has a slightly rough surface. the earthy, coarse, almost archaic texture is created in the production process by the slightly different composition of different clay minerals.

hasami is also available in glossy glazed grey or matt black whereby the edges and undersides remain unglazed. the lids made of ash wood give a beautiful material contrast.

the hasami porcelain is dishwasher and microwave proof. it cannot be used in the oven. the ash wood elements are used as lids or trays, not suitable for prolonged moisture and should be simply wiped clean.
