corkscrew holmblad – design peter holmblad

the form is impressive, not only in the naming. once jacobsen's designs were available, a long journey began before the cylinda line was ready for the market in 1967. the design created its own appearance with only the bare essentials. the logical structure of all vessels on cylinder and hemisphere is astonishing. the same basic shapes, used for a wide variety of functions. this was the case with marianne brandt, who created an entire series of services based on the hemisphere at the bauhaus as early as 1927. peter holmblad subsequently designed the bottle opener and corkscrew for the cylinda line series.
