typographical, sculptural, conceptual - the rings "6" and "8" are a homage to the grotesque fonts: in their clarity, they idealize the objectivity of modern design. just as grotesque fonts have no serifs, vignelli's rings do not need an ornamental gemstone. their shape alone, the pure sterling silver material and their object-like character make the rings an expressive piece of jewellery. lella and massimo vignelli have made it their mission to beautify our visual environment in an interdisciplinary way. their designs from the fields of architecture, graphics, jewellery and furniture design often have a graphic character. the duo became famous for their works from the 60s, including their guidance system for the new york city subway.
